AlphaX is a Mac OS X native version of Alpha8 in development by the Alpha Cabal.
Currently, AlphaX is in public beta testing; you can download the latest release below.
AlphaX is only supported on Mac OS X 10.2 or later, it has not been tested on Mac OS X 10.1 and will most likely not run.
AlphaX also requires my Tcl/Tk Aqua Batteries-Included distribution to be installed, a download url is included in the release archives, or you can get the distribution directly from my TclTkAqua page.
At a minimum you'll need to install the Tcl and TclAE packages in the distribution, and it's recommended that you also install TclX, Tcllib, Tdom and TclAppleScript. You can install more (or all) packages if you like, any non-tk extension will be usable from AlphaX. Note that you'll need an administrator password to run the installer.

For more information on Alpha and AlphaTcl in general, see the AlphaTcl Wiki and its AlphaX page.
Note that I am on leave from Alpha development for the forseeable future (until I submit my PhD).
Please don't email me directly about issues with Alpha, use the AlphaTcl Mailing Lists instead.
Using expired beta releases
Beta releases of AlphaX expire a fixed number of days after they are built (c.f Changes - Alpha).
While it is preferred that you use the the latest (i.e. non-expired) release available, it is sometimes useful to run older releases. To override the beta expiry check at startup, create a folder (or file) next to your AlphaX application named Don't expire Alpha beta (exactly).
